About the Event
Start off the New Year right! Join us and explore a different style of California wines with Andrew Bishop, Owner of Oz Wine Company. The term "New California Wine” has been trending for 10+ years. It gives nod to both long-established producers, as well as relative newcomers, who are changing the styles of California wines as we have come to know them over the last several decades. These creative and passionate producers are making wines from a broader range of grapes, most of which were brought over from Europe and planted by early California settlers. In addition to celebrating and saving these historically old vines and heirloom varietals from extinction, these winemakers use a lighter hand in the cellar than conventional producers by eliminating additives and employing less new oak in the fermentation and aging processes. The result of such care and low-impact methodology - in contrast to wines produced on an industrial scale - is a more expansive spectrum of fresh, food-friendly, and balanced wines which showcase the distinct regions and vineyards found throughout the state. Cheese and charcuterie will be offered to accompany the wine selection.
